See, you got it wrong. It isn’t those things that make someone a bigot, a racist, or backwards. It is just that many people who are bigoted, racist, or backwards ALSO subscribe to those ideas. But the two aren’t necessarily connected.
Its the liberal knee jerk reaction for disagreeing with them. Call them a racist or uneducated.

1. “Traditional marriage” = Christian marriage = separation of church and state. Plus, homophobia and regulated sex is backwards to the point of lunacy.

5. Guns are backwards for obvious reasons and should be eliminated. America is the only developed nation that has a problem with guns, and it’s because they’re too glorified.
6. Most Republican candidates represent nothing but obstructionism and pandering to the wealthy for self-serving purposes. They never bring new ideas to the table, they only want to make the rich richer.
8. Fox News is obviously a propaganda network, and only an ignorant moron would support them. It’s been proven time and again, and just watching it for five minutes should be enough to show you how retarded they are.
9. Gouging by private health care and insurance companies are precisely why health care is so expensive. It would be backwards to support it, especially when socialized medicine has been proven more effective in almost every other civilized society.
11. Women should be in control of their own bodies. How dare anyone tell them otherwise? Banning abortion would lead to all sorts of problems. Plus, Roe v Wade was arguably a fair ruling whether or not you’re pro-life. If you don’t like abortion, don’t get one.

Those who do label you as such are not willing to allow you express your own opinions. Basically it violates their sense of self-worth and they enter into a certain type of mental defense mechanism. They do not like that you are opposing their values and feel that they must defend their ideals with name calling, threats, and possibly violent actions/words. I am not making this up nor am I trying to anger any commenters, it is well-known amongst psychologists and those who apply psychology in their professions.
Great question. In my old age, I’ve learned to identify people for what they really are. It would be impossible for one to draw the correlation without truly knowing the facts of your belief system, and learning more, directly from you. So, that said, the name-callers are obviously mistaken. 1. Traditional Marriage….oh you mean one man and one woman committed to each other for the rest of their lives through better or worse? Or do you mean modern day traditional wedding where Britney Spears (a woman) is married to a man for 24 hours? Or any devoted christians who have a 50% divorce rate? How about interracial marriage between a man and a woman, is that allowed?

3. States’ rights….If that is of such importance then why the need for conservatives to run to the Federal Government and demand a Constitutional Amendment banning gay marriage in the entire USA? What…you don’t like States exercising their right to allow gay marriage? And why all the whining about States that are legalizing Medical Marijuana? Hypocrite.
4. The military….Liberals join the Military too yah know…and the current Commander in Chief of ALL US armed forces is a liberal.
5. Gun ownership rights…It has been a year, when oh when do you think Obama will be coming to take away your guns, next week or next month? How has Obama trampled on gun ownership rights in the last year??? And this Liberal owns quite a nice gun collection…for protection from gun toting Tea Partying christians with plans to mass murder police officers.

YOU might want this country to go back to doing business like it was the year 1900 but the majority like to see progress, not stagnation.
11. Right to life….right to life for who? Right to life for Palistinian women and children? Right to life for prisoners on death row in American prisons? Do Abortion doctors have a right to life? How about police officers who were close to losing their lives to a bunch of christian right wingers, do they have a right to life? How about the people killed in the Oklahoma City bombing by a right wing conservative terrorist, did they have a right to life? Or are you ONLY concerned with those cute and cuddly little fetus thingy’s?
