I cant dесіdе between buying a used οr nеw car.
I’m a college student, іn mу 20′s, wіth a decent job. Rіght now I hаνе аbουt 5k іn mу savings rіght now аnd wаѕ рlаnnіng οn spending аbουt 6… еіthеr аѕ a down payment οr outright buying a vehicle.
Thе nеw cars I lіkе аrе thе Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, VW Rabbit, аnd Scion xA. I lονе thе liftback style, affordability (аll total around 15k), аnd gas milage.
I’m skeptical аbουt buying used though. I know I want something fromm 2000 οr later, preferably wіth low miles аnd mу style οf car.
I know honda hаѕ a high resale, bυt аnу οthеr opinions οn thе cars listed? Whаt wουld уου recommend thats nοt tοο expensive аnd hаѕ gοοd milage? I particularly dont want tο bе driving a civic οr camary
Thanks
Thanks fοr аll thе аnѕwеrѕ!
I’m pretty sure I’ll gο used. Bіg qυеѕtіοn thеn іѕ, bυу frοm a used car lot οr аn individual?!

I would definatly buy used. Most of those cars you listed have been out for a couple years and a car loses $2000 in value as soon as you drive it off the lot. I had 10k in savings and I bought a 5 year old 4runner for $9899. A car that is less than 5 years old will hardly need any repairs, just maintenance.
I like the Chevy HHR and the Dodge Magnum. You might find a used Mini Cooper for a good price. Test drive some cars and see what you like.
I would go with a slightly used car. They say that you lose 20% of the value of a new car right when you drive it off of the lot…
If you get something that only has a few thousand miles on it, it is still on warranty – I would say go for that. You will save yourself thousands off the sticker price, still have a new car, and not lose too much on instant depreciation.
Just my opinion.
you might want to also look at a Nissan sentra ,there really good little cars all priced real good also, and very cheap on gas,and those cars last real good, there’s also some good ones in the dodge line of cars they have a lot of nice ones like the stratus its nice and roomy, yet real good on gas, there just so many to choose from now that it would really be hard to make your mind up,but the idea of buying used isn’t a bad one, just get one with low miles on it,and it will last you a really long time, when you go looking there so many to choose from that it will be hard for you to decide on one, good luck with it ,i hope you find a nice one,
Definitely buy a used car. Even if you go to carmax, you’ll get a better deal than buying a new car and you’ll have some feeling of security that there is a building to go to if you have any problems. I bought my second and last new car last year. There are too many good deals out there on used cars to be buying a new one.
Buy used from a use car lot. You are protected by “Lemon Law”. This should save you lots of money. And you can bargain better.
Buying from a private party would be a lot cheaper than buying from a dealer. But you will have to know how to look at the car and make sure it has not been into any accidents especially in the front of the car where the engine is. Best thing to do is bring someone who knows how to look at the engine and also knows how to look at the exterior to see if it has been into any accidents. What you also need to do is get the cars vin number and look that number up on carfax.com. It will give you all the info on that car. And alll the parts on the cars like doors have the vin number right on it. So if one door has a different number than the other doors you know that it has been fixed or has been into an accident and needed a new door. Hope this helps.
You know, everyone’s saying buy used, but I’ve been very skeptical about buying used myself. I saw this beautiful 04 Trailblazer the other week, 34,000 miles on it, pretty much mint condition – but I still couldn’t bring myself to buy it. The thought of it being used and driven by god knows who makes me cringe. I mean, who on earth knows what they did to it or what could be wrong with it. I don’t know, I hate that feeling of insecurity. I love being able to know it’s new, I’m the first to drive/take car of it, not to mention that new car smell.
I suggest you go with the Toyota yaris. Toyotas are great and reliable. I have a 2003 Rav4 that I bought new and have had no problems with it whatsoever. I’m just looking for something bigger right now and I’m probably going to get the 2007 Rav4 with the 3rd row.
