I joined tο army іn August аnd wаѕ supposed tο ship іn a week. Recently mу wife hаѕ become very sick аnd wе аrе nοt sure hοw much time ѕhе hаѕ. I tοld mу recruiter i needed out аnd re tried tο resell mе. I tοld hіm i couldn’t gο rіght now аnd thаt I wanted tο bе discharged frοm thе DEP. ѕіnсе thеn hе wont аnѕwеr mу calls аnd hе іѕ never free tο talk whеn i gο tο hіѕ office. Cаn i јυѕt nοt ѕhοw up tο ship? Alѕο, hе hаѕ аll mу аnd mу family’s birth certs аnd ss cards, wіll i gеt those back еνеr?

recruiters dont want to talk to you because you bailed on them and proved that you were unreliable. if you really had anything to do with the military you would know that you could go into the office any time that it is open and get your stuff.
Leave him a message telling him you need those items back, with a warning that if you don’t get them back you will contact his commanding officer. He will quickly return them, recruiting is gravy duty, he won’t want to jeopardize it.
Even though you have a legit reason he’ll be mad that he wasted his time with you, it’s not selfish at all for you to back out. But understand from his perspective that he had to do a lot of work, and you end up flaking out one way or another. Just man up and talk to him in person, get your stuff back and come back if things improve.
If he will not give you, your stuff or answer your calls. go to the station and ask to speak with the station commander and get your stuff. YES YES YES YES you can back out at any time. there is nothing they can do to you AT ALL, NOR WILL THEY DO!!!!! He is pissed because in order for him to make his Quato for the month he needed you to ship. I wish you civilians would do your research and realize you are nothing but a number to a recruiter and if you dont ship, he the recruiter cant do a damn thing but try to scare you. hell you can make it to MEPS and say i changed my mind, you can raise your right hand and then a few days latter say oops, changed my mind gotta go.all the way to basic training and change your mind and go home.

Don’t show up to ship. Then you can write a letter to the station commander or RECOM about why you did not show up and why you want to be RELEASED from the DEP. If your recruiter says anything, he’s probably breaking the law. They can’t do anything if you don’t show up, so if he says it’s illegal etc., ignore him and call the cops. You can then follow up by talking to the station commander or RECOM about his threats, and then he’ll be taken care of.
